The Latest and Greatest from ATEL
What’s new in the world of telephony, you ask? (Well, you probably weren’t REALLY asking....) But just wait until you read about these exciting upgrades and opportunities. You can’t wait, I’ll bet!
SV8100 - Software Release 4.0
NEC has announced the release of SV8100 4.0 software, effective immediately, and has introduced powerful new capabilities on the popular SV8100 platform. This software is shipped standard on all new orders and is also available as a no-charge software upgrade to existing SV8100 users with an active Software Assurance (SWA) subscription.
Not sure if you have an active SWA subscription? Call ATEL at 858-646-4600, and we’ll let you know. If you’ve ever used a PC (and really, who hasn’t?), you’ll appreciate the importance of software upgrades and updates. It quite literally can be the difference in a working system or not.
Some of the 4.0 new system capabilities include the following:
Easy-to-Access Video |
Ok, walk down memory lane with me for a moment…Remember watching the Jetsons on TV or walking through Tomorrowland at Disneyland and marveling at the exhibitions about the world of the future? Did you fantasize about how cool it would be if you could "picture-phone" or "video-talk" with others and wonder if you would ever REALLY be able to do such a thing? Well guess what? It’s here! <Yay!> With Easy-to-Access Video, users can now video-chat and collaborate from any location using a SIP phone or softphone equipped with an internal or external webcam/camera. (This feature requires both users be on the same network.) |
Caller ID - Caller Log on Busy |
Caller ID is now logged for every call - even when the caller is logged in as busy. This makes it easy to returned that missed call or find the number of the person you were speaking too.Personally, I use it to remind me of tasks I may have missed by reviewing my calls for the day. |
Auto Attendant at the Mailbox Level |
Find-me/Follow-me and easily locate an extension user who is not at their desk. If their call is unanswered and is picked up by the voicemail system, the caller has the option of making a single digit choice to Find-Me Follow-Me destinations. A destination number can be an outside number (such as cell phone, pager, or home office) or a co-worker's extension. This feature provides improved customer service. |
Upload/Download Audio |
InMail (VM8000) greetings can now be downloaded. By recording greetings on a PC or having them professionally recorded, users are able to control the quality of the recording their callers hear. |
Now if your heart isn’t already pounding too rapidly after reading about the potential for your phone system--which really is the foundation and one of the most valuable assets to your business--let me tell you about some other exciting features.

Another communications tool that we proudly use within our office is Desktop Suite. For use on the SV8100 Communications Server, it combines the functionality of three products: PC Assistant, PC Attendant, and the SP310 Softphone. With the Desktop Suite, your company can provide customers the attention they deserve.
